Welcome to the City of Belvidere, Illinois' "City of Murals".  Belvidere, the county seat of Boone County, is strategically located in Northern Illinois. Belvidere is easily accessible, to I-90, I-39, and US Route 20, making it very attractive to businesses and residents that want to work or play in the area.  Illinois' largest and third largest cities, Chicago (60 minutes) and Rockford (10 minutes) are only short drives away.

          President Bush has called all Americans to volunteer 2 years or the equivalent of 4000 hours of service to their communities over the course of their lifetime. To assist the citizens of Belvidere in fulfilling that call, the City of Belvidere has established a Citizen Corps Council.
