      The City of Belvidere is a community that is growing together. As the county seat of one of the state's fastest growing counties, Belvidere's city government has been able to successfully deal with the daily challenges this unprecedented growth brings to us by establishing various inter- governmental agreements with the county, townships, school district, park district, and conservation district units of government.

          Maintaining a high quality of life for our individual and business citizens is very important. Former Governor Jim Edgar recognized Belvidere as "Illinois' City of Murals", as a result of a community-wide effort to host artists from around the world to revitalize our downtown by creating ten painted murals in a three day weekend. We've expanded on that effort, and today boast 14 unique and historic murals.

          We are very proud to be working together to help build a better Belvidere. We hope that this Web Site will assist you in identifying the many services delivered in the Belvidere community, and see why we are so proud of our community and its people.
