Mayor Mike Chamberlain

Mayor Mike Chamberlain is the 26th mayor to serve the City of Belvidere. Born in Greenville, Michigan, he attended Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. After moving to Belvidere in 1983, Mayor Mike served as a city councilman for two terms, serving Belvidere’s third ward from 2005-2013. With a key focus in economic development, his goal is to create a climate of “yes” and “can do” within the community.

As a graduate of the Illinois Municipal League/ University of Illinois L.E.A.D. and Leadership Program, Mayor Mike has developed leadership skills that are shown in his daily work. He has worked to streamline the process in City Hall, increase participation in community events, and help complete infrastructure improvements through the City of Belvidere.

Mayor Mike is extremely involved in the community. While serving his sixth consecutive term as a Vice President of the Illinois Municipal League, he was appointed to be the representative to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to the State of Illinois. He is also involved in the R1 Regional Planning Commission as the Inaugural Chairman, Flora Grange, the Illinois Sheriffs Association, the Kishwaukee Riverfront Committee, and is the Executive Chair of the Community Action Agency of Boone and Winnebago County.
